Elie Wiesel Nobel Peace Prize 1986
It is worth the time to read Elie Wiesel's acceptance speech. While reading it, I had to remind myself that he spoke those words over 20 years ago. Some of the things he said are no longer so. For example Mandela is no longer in prison. However so much more, sadly to say, is still true today. The Iraq War and Occupation, torture, racism and many other problems he mentioned.

While your at the Noble Prize web site browse around. There is so much there about peace, nonviolence, ways to oppose nuclear weapons etc.

Thanks, Bob, for bringing the Nobel site to my attention, along with an opportunity to read the entire acceptance speech of Elie Wiesel. You are so correct that too much of what he said is still true today. I cling to the hope that one day we will have peace throughout the world

The 2 Billion dollar SEMCOG freeway expansion plans for Detroit and nearby suburbs will add 25 miles of new freeway lanes. The same money raised to do this comes from the November 2006 SMART Livonia public bus service reductions.

Next August 2010, your NO vote is needed to defeat the SMART property tax renewal to stop the freeway expansions that are costing our region precious funding for public bus service. A vote of NO will not mean a tax reduction or less funding for the elderly or handicapped as defined by federal laws.
